Gulfood Exhabition 2014
Gulfood Exhibition ranks as the biggest food and beverage industry related trade events in the world. The show boasts of participants representing as many as 88 different countries. Informative conferences are organized during this four day show, where attendees are provided with ample opportunities to learn about the latest business trends and new products. More than 110 foreign country pavilions are also set up at the event, which is held at Dubai. The exhibition is attended by over 68681 qualified business visitors in all. Many professional chefs also take up this opportunity to highlight their skills to a large audience. Different varieties of food items, beverages, restaurant supplies, hospitality services and other related food equipments are exhibited here, by more than 3816 exhibiting firms. Attendees can also participate in the Baking and Pastry Guild Competition that is hosted here. Corporate award ceremonies are held at the show too. The event occupies a total space of over 100898 square meters.
Iran’s dried fruit exports nearly halted
Iran's dried fruit exports have almost been halted, head of the Iran Dried Fruit Exporters' Union, Mohammad Shamsfard said, ILNA news agency reported.
He went on to note that unstable foreign currency rates, a rise in dried fruit prices and problems due to international sanctions against Iran have almost halted country's dried fruit exports.
Shamsfard said that dried fruit prices have increased by 20 percent compared to last year due to increasing fruit prices and foreign currency price rises.
Many shippers refuse to ship Iranian cargo, he said, adding that, Iranian exporters have to export their goods to the EU via UAE ports.
Last year, dried fruit exports to the EU decreased by 25 percent compared to previous years, Shamsfard said.
Iran eyes Central Asian and Chinese markets to offset the sales fall, he added.
